Beaches

Stunning beaches rim St. John’s sparkling shorelines. Powdery white sun-drenched stretches of sand, with warm gentle surf and swaying palms.  Pristine, un-crowded
beaches provide a relaxing escape from daily life.

It is not uncommon to find isolated mile long ribbons of sand with a string of secluded coves not far off the main roadway.

Take a simple stroll along these beautiful beaches and take long deep breaths of the tropical  sea air, a balm for the
senses and the soul.

All beaches in the Virgin Islands are open to the public.  Some are deserted (or almost), others are lively gathering spots like Trunk Bay.  This is the site of the legendary underwater snorkel trail.  If you follow the red, white & blue buoys, they outline 15 underwater plaques that identify the colorful fish and fascinating coral that reside in these waters.  Other lovely beaches on the north shore are Honeymoon, Hawksnest, Maho & Cinnamon.  On the south shore Lameshur and Salt pond are a beautiful alternative and off the beaten path.  Salt pond bay is a quarter miles easy walk from the parking area and this sun-kissed Caribbean beach is worth the effort.  Right behind the beach is the salt pond and just a short walk away along a trail brings you to the crashing surf and spectacular rocky cliffs of Trunk Bay.  There is also a mile long trail through a cactus-studded landscape to Ram head point.

In Coral Bay, a number of beaches are seldom visited.  You can pull off the road in many spots and find these beaches with a few steps, they are placid, quiet and without big waves.  Snorkeling for underwater treasures is also excellent.

Come explore some of the most scenic and unspoiled beaches in the world.  Take a long indulgent soak in the sun or take a nap under one of the many palm trees that form a lacy canopy for lazy days by the sea, whatever you choose you won’t be disappointed
