Activities & Excursions

Our attractions above and below the water are amazing.  You will find plenty to do here in our almost perfect weather.

Sites of natural beauty and historic significance can be found throughout St. John
and exploring the island can be both fun and educational.

Whether it’s sailing or dining, beaching or exploring, St. John’s daytime pleasures abound.

Hiking St. John’s lush trails and snorkeling the idyllic bays they lead to is the best way to explore the nations only
Caribbean national park.

With approximately 11,500 acres of wilderness and 5,600 acres of
offshore marine areas will leave your breathless.

To get the most out of your visit, stop by the National Park Visitor Center just north of the ferry landing.  Here you can see exhibits that will help you become familiar with the island and plan a host of adventures.  Park rangers are also available to tell you about the weekly agenda.  Activities include nature talks, adventure hikes, snorkeling trips and history programs.  The park has 20 trails over the 9-mile long St. John.  One of the most popular trips is the Reef Bay Hike.  It is a 3-mile, 2 hour hike.  If you aren’t up for this moderately strenuous trek, the Annaberg Sugar Ruins on the north coast is a beautiful alternative.  There you can tour the windmill and factory buildings of this 1733 estate and get spectacular views of white sails skimming past the British Virgin Islands.

Traveling between islands is easy.
Ferries provide an accommodating schedule
so you can easily plan a trip.

The remains of plantations within the park show how 18th century sugar & rum facilities were run.

Historic buildings and artifacts are precious cultural resources that the park protects, so please treat ruins with respect; ruins are unstable, so please don’t climb on walls or remove pieces.

Another interesting thing to see are the mysterious Petroglyphs, rock carvings from the islands
Pre-Columbian period.
